A List of Good Things
A small printed catalogue of things worth having, reading, watching, using and visiting. Two sides of A4, black on ivory, a few times a year.
It turns up in bookshops, in book orders and occasionally in the post. It isn’t a magazine and it isn’t advice. It’s a list, and the selection does the talking.

The idea
Borrowed from the Victorians, mostly.
Before there were feeds, there were lists. The Victorian circular was a single printed sheet with one job: to tell you what had arrived and why it might deserve your attention. It was folded into parcels, left on shop counters and passed from hand to hand until it wore through and fell apart.
The second-hand bookseller’s catalogue did the same job with more obsession. Numbered lots, a line of description, the occasional dry remark and strong point of view. Publishers sent out their seasonal lists. Seed merchants, ironmongers and department stores printed catalogues thick enough to sit on, and people kept them for years.
What they had in common was a person behind them. Somebody had chosen, and you could tell. That is the part worth keeping. A recommendation someone has paid to print carries more weight than one that cost nothing to make. Paper is a small act of commitment.
So this borrows the mechanics. Dense lists, numbered entries, a sentence or two on each, small rules and good type. No photographs and no gloss. Just things that earned a place on the list, and a line on why.

The shelf
Every edition, as printed.
Each list is a snapshot of a season and stays as it went to press. Newest first.
Find a copy
It works best when it’s found.
Printed in small runs and given away.
You’ll find copies at talks and workshops, tucked into book orders, and on the counters of a few independent bookshops and stationery shops. Some go in the post to people who might enjoy them. If someone handed you one, it was meant for you.
