For you
You've got something you want to do. Let's get it moving.
Perhaps you want to give a talk, develop an idea, get better at communicating or work out what to do next.
You probably don't need a course or a long programme. Most people who come to me already know a lot about their subject. What they're missing is a fresh pair of eyes on it, or a day spent actually doing the thing rather than reading about it. That's what these are for.
Office Hours · Online · 60 minutes
One hour, one question, a clearer way forward.
Bring an idea, a talk, a piece of work or a decision that won't move. We look at it properly, turn it around, and you leave knowing what's worth doing next.
Two kinds. Communication, for speaking, presenting and getting ideas across. Idea to Value, for founders and leaders moving an idea towards something real.

Help good people do better work.
You can see what your people are capable of. You'd like more of their good ideas to make it through to results, and the people who have them to want to stay.
Usually the capability is already there. What decides how much of it shows up is the way the work is set up: how ideas travel, how decisions get made, what managers have time and skill to do. So the work is practical and built around what your people actually do, rather than a generic course they sit through and forget.
Workshops · Half or full day
Build the skills and conditions for better work.
Practical days on communication, managing, creative thinking and where good ideas get stuck, run on your team's real work rather than invented case studies. Many leave something behind that the business keeps.

A new way of looking at the work you do.
Talks on how good ideas land, how communication moves work, and what it takes to turn an idea into something valuable. Built for your room and your theme, and told through stories from real work.

Explore talks →Advisory · The Read
An outside view of where potential is being held back.
The Read is a short diagnostic: where ideas are getting stuck, whether the team and its routines fit the direction, and what would move things. For the right organisation it can lead to a light, ongoing advisory role.
Deliberately small · a few organisations at a time
About advisory →Workshops, talks and advisory are priced to fit the group and the work, and agreed on a 20-minute call. UK and international, in person.
Making the case internally?
Everything in one place, for whoever signs it off.
The Trade List is a short printed-style guide to every workshop, talk and service, with an essay on why the work matters. Download it and pass it on.

Rob Lambert runs practical workshops, talks and advisory on communication, management and turning good ideas into results. He's been VP of Software Engineering twice and VP of HR, so his work covers both delivery and keeping good people. The first step is a 20-minute call to see whether it's a fit.
Why work with me
I've spent my working life on both sides of how work gets done: building and running engineering organisations, then running HR in the same business. Most people who help with this work come from one side. I bring both, and everything I teach comes from having done it.
Delivery
Twice a VP of Software Engineering. I know what it takes to get an idea through a real organisation and out of the door.
People
VP of HR in the same business where I'd led engineering. I've seen the people side of the same problems, and what keeps good people.
Communication
A background in Media Science and journalism. A lot of what slows work down turns out to be how ideas are shared, so that's where I put my weight.
Making
A writer and publisher of books, guides and films. Sessions are hands-on, and often leave something the business keeps.

Not sure where to start?
Tell me what you're trying to do, what you'd like to change or where you're stuck. We'll work out together whether there's something here that can help. There's no pitch, and if it isn't the right fit, I'll say so.
Or email info@cultivatednotes.com. I usually reply within 48 hours.
Prefer to work through it on your own first? The Field Guides are short, practical books you can put to use the same week, and Before the Stage is a free masterclass on finding the idea at the heart of a talk.
