Workshops
Hands-on workshops for teams who want good ideas to travel further, and people to do their best work. Every one is built around your team’s real work.
A good workshop shows up on Monday morning: a clearer meeting, a decision that sticks, a conversation that finally happens. That’s the only measure I use.
Most of what slows a team down sits in the stretch between a good idea and the result it should become: the handoffs, the messages that don’t quite land, the things started and never finished. The people inside it rarely get to see the whole of it. These workshops make it visible, using your team’s real work rather than invented case studies, and then help the team decide what to change first. There are no hours of slides. People make things, and most of it goes home with them.
I design and run every one myself, drawing on twenty years inside organisations as a communicator, an engineering leader and an HR leader. Each one starts with a twenty-minute conversation.
The Idea to Value Workshop is where most teams start. The others each take one part of it deeper.
Or go deeper on capabilities and culture
They’re all shaped to your team, and they all start with the same twenty-minute call.
When good ideas aren’t landing
The Everyday Communication Workshop
It’s not what you say. It’s what arrives. The conversations, messages and meetings that carry ideas to results, built on Media Science.
For new and growing managers
The Manager’s Practice
Six everyday practices that make room for your team’s potential, and your own, with a plan each manager starts on Monday.
To agree what good looks like
The Ten Behaviours Workshop
Name the behaviours behind good work in your own words, then hire for them, coach them and recognise them.
To think and make differently
The Creativity of Constraints
Short, timed challenges that show how limits fuel creative thinking. With Helen Callaghan and Helen Lisowski.
When someone needs to give a talk
Zero to Keynote
Arrive with an idea, leave with a talk. A small public day in Winchester, or in-house for your team.
Not sure which fits? That’s what the twenty-minute call is for. For a wider look at your organisation before choosing, there’s The Read.
How every workshop works
01
A 20-minute call
Your team, what you'd like to be different, and which workshop fits. No pitch.
02
Shaped to you
A short conversation before the day, so the exercises use your team's real work.
03
The day
Hands-on, in person, with no hours of slides. Usually 6 to 55 people, depending on the workshop.
04
Something you keep
Notes for the organiser, and if you like, a thing the team makes: posters, a playbook, a film or a podcast episode.
Why these workshops are different
Most training is about the person at the front of the room. These are about what changes once everyone’s back at their desks. They come from twenty years inside organisations, as Head of Communication, twice a VP of Engineering, VP of HR and Head of Business Agility, and from a background in Media Science and journalism. So they treat business results and keeping good people as the same outcome, and they work on your team’s real work rather than invented case studies.
I’ve also written the book on it: Workshop Mastery, on designing and running workshops that change what people do.

Something more specific?
If none of these fits exactly, I also design workshops from scratch for a particular brief: aligning a leadership team, communicating a change, solving a stubborn problem, or building a team culture. They start the same way, with a twenty-minute call.

For whoever holds the budget
Cultivated runs hands-on workshops for teams. The flagship, the Idea to Value Workshop, shows a team how its ideas become results and where they slow down, in three hours for up to 150 people or a full day on its own work, and has been delivered more than 300 times. Focused workshops cover communication, management, behaviours, creativity and talks. All are shaped around our real work and run in person by Rob Lambert, former Head of Communication, VP of Engineering and VP of HR. It starts with a 20-minute call to find the right fit.
